DM Cockpit

Prototype

A dark-first control surface for running tabletop D&D sessions — multi-panel campaign management with a high-contrast projector mode for the table.

Last updated Feb 15, 2026

Early prototype

This project is a working prototype — the core concept is proven but it is not yet production-ready.

The problem

Running a session in person means juggling notes, maps, initiative, and rules across a laptop, a phone, and paper while a table full of people waits. Virtual tabletops are built for remote play; an in-person DM needs something that stays out of the way and puts the right panel within reach.

What’s being built

A multi-panel dashboard for the DM's screen plus a separate high-contrast rendering for a projector pointed at the table. Dark-first by mandate, tuned for information density over decoration and minimal cognitive load mid-session. Sketched next: a player view, richer tokens with custom images and visibility states, terrain and elevation layers, event-log session replay, and multi-campaign import and export.

Latest update

The DM dashboard and the projector rendering are working as separate surfaces, which is the split the whole design depends on.

Current milestone

Multi-panel DM dashboard and projector mode working; a player view is next
